Prep Update

Today we are 23 days to departure. Shopping almost complete. We will stop in at Touratech tomorrow and exchange our new dry bags (WAY TO BIG) for some smaller bags, straps, and gloves. One more GoPro HD cam to order.

Checking weather and it looks like we will be riding in some cool wet weather for the first week or so.

This Saturday we will be at the BMW shop in Fife to watch a movie on the Washington Back Country Discovery Route. This should give us some good info on packing and loading.

Enjoy the new maps on the right side of the page.

Can't wait to hit the road!!!

  1. About a couple weeks until blast off. We got the HD GoPro cam in the mail last night and dry bags last weekend. Now we focus on the little things like soap, load straps, batteries, matches, cooking supplies, etc. Bottles, packets, and little bags of stuff.

Wendle practices Packing her bike last night and say's she can do it with one less bag then expected...we'll see. Room for trinkets as we travel I guess.

Going out today and try on a helmet or two to replace the open face she has. Would be nice to get her some face protection even though she prefers the open feel.

I don't think she will sleep a wink until we leave. Just like Christmas Eve.

  2. Less the two weeks till departure.

A decision to pull the bikes out of snowy weather has been a tough one. Still very cool here and we worried about Grants pass/Shasta area. they get snow into April. We have decided to trailer the bikes to a friends house south of Shasta. This is kind of a bummer but thats what we get for planning the trip this early in the year.

Truck is ready to go and the trailer will be here Sunday. We will load everything Monday and store it all in a friends shop intil Friday.
Camping stuff, camera gear, tools, etc all packed and ready to go.

I have a feeling we will be a bit heavy with clothes and gear this first trip but thats the way it goes. We can always stop at a good will and unload some things.

  3. SOOO Jealous you guys are on a road trip! Maybe we could get a few of us together that have bikes and go for a weekend ride, considering I still have children at home that take priority (you know what I'm talking about!) let me know!!
