Adventure Biking with the Bass'

Last spring we sat with my parents in a Seattle Hospital room where my Dad was seeing doctors about upcoming cancer treatment. During our visit we told them about ideas for our first big 4000 mile trip through 5 western states. They listened with such painful looks on their faces when Mom finally said, only as Mom's can, "What if something happens"? We looked at at each other and responded "We hope something does". This is a running log of our adventures.

Pelican box install

Mounted a pelican 1500 to my 1200gs.

Pelican 1500 and a mounting bracket from Touratech made for a super nice waterproof secure solution for our camera gear.

First step was removal of the factory luggage rack.

Next, install Touratech luggage rack.

Next was to install the mounting plate to the box. I need some additional hardwear from Tacoma Screw.

The box locks to the flat plate on the bike and can be removed, with a key, from the bike in about 10 seconds.We like this because it allows us to easily carry it into stores or other places you might feel uncomfortable parking in public. The box is waterproof, lockable, and padded.

We decided to buy the adjustable compartment kit and we are very happy with the choice.
