Bootleg Canyon and Pawn Stars (from the Discovery Channel)
The Day starts out with a short 1/2 mile ride to the Pawn shop from the show on the Discovery Channel. This was cool I guess if you want to be 1 of about 100 people standing around some lame Pawn shop waiting to see someone famous. The shop was a total joke. I don't know what I expected to see but this was not it. It was just a pawn shop. The guys were in the back room hanging out away from all the dorks that showed up to see someone "almost famous". Scored a couple of stickers for the bikes and headed out.
Next stop was to catch a shuttle bus to Boulder City (about 15 minutes from the Hoover Dam.
The place is called Bootleg Canyon.
They offer a 3 hour tour of some canyons via a "Zip Line". This isn't just any zip line, it's 4 monster zip lines. The longest is about a half mile long and you reach speeds of 60mph. The part I found alarming is the place is run by Jr. High boys. These dudes were a hoot and made it a ton of fun.
The short bus ride from the shop up to the first launch point.
We were all issued our gear. Harness - check...Trolley - check...wedgie - check.
She is working some Astro Physics out before all the fun starts.
Line #1 Notice the rock about half way down! The guy on the left needs to have short legs because you pass over this doing about 60.
Launch Instructor giving us our pre death briefing.
What a beauty.
They load all 4 sliders then launch us 2 at a time.
Landng area. The big red things are the brake pads you SLAM into at the end.
When you brake too soon and too much you don't make it to the landing area. That leaves you, in her case, 120ft off the ground waiting for an instructor to shimmy out and get you.
